Very useful people to know during the war, and for several years afterwards as well. Food and clothing were rationed and hard to get, as well as many other essential goods. But the Black Market was flourishing and it was handy to have friends like Harry and Mavis for that pair of stockings or an extra bag of coal!
Watch out, here come The Spivs! Flash Harry and his ever faithful partner Mavis are out and about trying to get rid of some very dodgy goods. You name it and Harry can probably lay his hands on it … for a price of course! Cash on delivery, no rubbish. On walkabout with a suitcase of gear, or they can provide some entertainment as well.
We’re now into the 1950’s and Harry and Mavis are still trying to sell off the last of the ex-WD stuff that Harry ‘acquired’ !
